Support for the work of Easing Awake Sangha comes in many forms, all gifts from the Members and Friends who are the sangha. We exist thanks to donations of time, talents, money, and other personal resources, making it possible for us to support the work of our guiding teacher and to meet in beautiful and convenient settings to further our individual and collective practices.
It is an important aspect of Buddhist practice to support the teaching from which it springs from what one is able to offer, and we refer to these gifts as dana, a word from the Pali language. It is dana which provides the teaching we collectively enjoy. "How much do I give?" is a question the board of Easing Awake Sangha has been asked and struggled with, as the answer is different for each individual. Giving dana is akin to the Newton's Third Law of Motion, in that not only does dana support the work of the sangha, it has a reflective and equal effect on the giver and as such forms an important aspect of our spiritual practice. We have prepared this brief pamphlet on dana in an effort to unpack this more thoroughly, and we invite you to explore this ancient idea with us.
The illustration above is of the traditional dana bowl, something always available at meetings and teaching events to receive your donations. To provide twenty-first century convenience, we provide the buttons below for either one-time donations or subscription giving.
